Questions, answered.
The essentials on DinkTap for players and clubs. More detail lands here as we get closer to launch.
-
What is DinkTap?
DinkTap is the all-in-one pickleball platform for players and the clubs they play at. Players today find skill-matched games nearby, log every match, track a real DMR™ rating, and climb local leaderboards. The management portal for clubs — tournaments, leagues, brackets, standings, courts and reservations, and member communication — is rolling out through 2026, so the patchwork of spreadsheets, group chats, and separate apps gives way to one connected system. See DinkTap for players and DinkTap for clubs for more.
-
What is the DMR rating?
DMR™ — the Dynamic Mesh Rating — is our skill rating for pickleball. It updates after every match you log, weighing who you played and how the game went, so your number reflects how you actually play rather than a one-time self-assessment. It helps you find evenly matched games, see your progress over time, and seed leagues and tournaments fairly. See the DMR page for the full methodology.
-
Is DinkTap free to use?
Yes — players can use DinkTap for free: find games, log matches, track your DMR™, and follow leaderboards at no cost. Clubs and organizers will have paid plans for the management portal we're rolling out — tournament and league management land in Q2–Q3 2026, with court & reservation tools following after. If you run a club and want to help shape it, reach out through our Partners page to join the early-partner program.
-
Is DinkTap for players or for clubs?
Both — and that's the point. Players use DinkTap today to find games, meet nearby players, and track progress; clubs are joining the early-partner program as we roll out the management portal — tournaments, leagues, courts, and member communication — through 2026. Because both sides share one platform, players discover more places to play and clubs reach more engaged players — each makes the other better. See DinkTap for players or DinkTap for clubs for the deep dive on each side.
-
Can clubs run leagues and tournaments on DinkTap?
Early tournament and league experiences are live on DinkTap today, with full end-to-end management rolling out next: tournament management with brackets, standings, scheduling, and live scoring lands in Q2 2026, and full league management with the flexible competition engine follows in Q3 2026. DMR™ already helps seed divisions fairly, and results flow straight back to players' profiles and ratings. If you run a club and want early access, reach out through our Partners page.
-
Does DinkTap handle court bookings?
Not yet — but it's on the way. Court & reservation tools are part of the management portal we're building out next, so clubs will manage availability in one place and players will see open courts and book time, all connected to the games, leagues, and ratings already live on DinkTap. If you run a club and want early access, reach out through our Partners page.
-
When will DinkTap be available?
DinkTap is rolling out on iOS and Android — you can find the player app on the App Store and Google Play, and we're expanding club tools and coverage area by area. If DinkTap isn't live where you play yet, subscribe to our newsletter from the Partners page and we'll let you know the moment it reaches you.
-
How does DinkTap handle my data and privacy?
We only use your information to power your DinkTap experience — finding games, tracking your DMR™ rating, and running your club's events — and we never sell your personal data. You stay in control of your profile and what you share with other players. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.

What is DinkType?
DinkType™ is DinkTap's pickleball personality model — a doubles-specific framework that places how you actually play on four axes: cognitive style, court energy, risk appetite, and emotional read. Take a short quiz, get a 4-letter archetype, and see which of 16 archetypes matches how you show up on the court. It's free, takes about two minutes, and tells you both how you play and who you'd pair best with in doubles. Take it on the DinkType™ page.
-
How does the DinkType quiz work?
Pick one of three lengths: Express (8 questions, ~2 minutes), Balanced (12 questions, ~3 minutes), or Pro (24 questions, ~5 minutes). Each prompt is a 1–5 agreement scale. The scoring maps your answers to four binary axes (S/I, A/H, C/V, M/E) and lands you on one of 16 archetypes — longer quizzes mean higher confidence on each axis. The Express read is enough for a quick sense of where you fall; Pro is the deepest pass with six prompts per axis pair. Compare the three lengths on the DinkType™ page.
-
What does my DinkType archetype mean?
Your archetype is a 4-letter code — one letter per axis. S vs I (strategic or intuitive — do you plan patterns or read the rally as it unfolds), A vs H (assertive or harmonic — do you drive tactics or sync to your partner), C vs V (conservative or venturous — percentage play or creative risk), and M vs E (measured or expressive — cool under pressure or visible energy). Together they map to one of 16 archetypes with a play-style summary, strengths, watch-outs, and the partner archetypes you pair best with from the chemistry matrix. Browse all 16 on the DinkType™ page.
-
Do I need an account to take the DinkType quiz?
No. The DinkType quiz is free and works without any sign-up — take it, see your archetype, and share it with your doubles partners without an account. If you also use DinkTap as a player, your archetype shows up in the app and feeds into partner picks and matchmaking; if you don't, you can still send your result link to teammates and compare. Start free on the DinkType™ page.
